Answers to prepare:

  • Why this course?

  • Why this university?

  • Why this subject?

  • Why should we give you a place over someone else?

  • What is different about you?

  • What do you like doing in your spare time?

  • What do you like about your subject?

  • How can you prove your passion?

  • Tell us about a time where you learnt something by yourself

  • How do you cope with revision and exams?

  • Do you think your predicted grades are a good representation of your abilities?

  • Tell us about a time you failed at something

  • Tell us about something you’ve read recently that you found interesting

  • What do you think is the most impressive thing in your personal statement?

Good questions to ask:

All interviewers ask the dreaded question: 'Have you got any questions for us?' You'll need to prepare some intelligent questions so you don't look like a rabbit in headlights when they inevitably ask it! Here are a few gems to take with you:

  • What are you researching at the moment?

  • Why would you recommend this course?

  • What is the weekly structure of work when studying here?

  • What are my specialisation options in the final years?

  • What type of practicals/large projects will I have the opportunity to experience here?

  • Will I have the opportunity to be part of any research whilst studying here?

Good luck with the interviews and as always, if you need any advice, get in touch!
